Some memorable drinks from the past few days have been soaked in various things like chong cao aka a plant that looks like a caterpillar -- it is about $200 per box about the size of my hand, a red flower... its name I know not of... that grows only in high altitudes, buffalo milk... who knew, nuts, and qin ke (the nutty looking plate in the fourth picture).

All of them were recommended and slightly encouraged by my relatives... a strange feeling when I have been growing up in non-alcoholic family. Although I participated in the tasting, it is much different than the "drinking" done back in SF. No binging or drinking to get drunk but a festive and tasting even t with the fam.

The baffalo milk drink with nuts, tea (?), qin ke, and other things taste much like milk tea but stronger in the protein factor and with a hint of baffalo-milk aroma that i can't really describe. Its Chinese name is Sue You Cha, and it is definitely worth trying if in Yunnan.
